Adapted from Psalm 34
The Lord Hears the Cry of the Poor
I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall be ever in my mouth.
Let my soul glory in the Lord;
The lowly will hear me and be glad (Ps. 34:1-2)
R: The Lord hears the cry of the poor.
The Load confronts evil doers,
To destroy remembrance of them from the earth.
When the just cry out, the Lord hears them,
And from all their distress He rescues them. (Ps. 34:15-16)
R: The Load hears the cry of the poor.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;
And those who are crushed in spirit He saves.
The Lord redeems the lives of His servants;
No one incurs guilt who takes refuge in Him.
R. The Lord hears the cry of the poor.
The Lord sees the refugees and the wounded;
The grieving widows, orphans and family members He hears.
The haughty, who perpetrate such crimes, God also knows;
He calls each to repentance.
R: The Lord hears the cry of the poor.
The Lord witnesses the desperation of the homeless,
the pangs of the hungry and the rejection of the abandoned.
Sisters and brother, God created us;
A planet of abundant possibilities He made for us.
R: The lord hears the cry of the poor.

Let us pray in our hearts for a league of souls and a united world.
Though we may seem divided by race, color, creed, class and politic prejudices, still, as children of the one god we are able in our souls to feel brotherhood and world unity. May we work for the creation of a united world in which every nation will be a useful part, guided by god through man's enlightened conscience.
In our hearts we can learn to be free from hate and selfishness. Let us pray for harmony among the nations, that they march hand in hand through the gate of a fair new civilization. Amen
