February 2008 Opening Prayer

by: Michael Dalton

Let us pray,
Heavenly Father, although there is no greater gift than the love Your Son showed for us by dying on the cross, may we no longer be blind to the gifts that You bestow upon us daily, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem, as we often take so much in our lives for granted. May we use this upcoming Lenten season as a means to help us focus on all that is positive in our lives, taking all that You have provided and placed before us and making the most of it. May we see the obstacles and challenges that are placed before us as simply a means by which we can grow closer to You, using these instances to call on You and contemplate your teachings, helping our faith become ever stronger. Lord, let us approach each day as a stepping stone, a point at which we can reflect on the teachings of Christ, helping us to navigate the often murky waters of the river called life, so that when we finally cross it, we may be welcomed into Your kingdom. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

February 2008 Closing Prayer

by: Rose DeBord

Heavenly Father,
Your knowledge is infinite and You have given human beings a wonderful capacity to learn on every level: practical, social, cultural, intellectual, and so on. Bless all institutions of learning and all teachers. Bless all students and their parents and caregivers. Grant to them all as well as all of us a dedication to true knowledge, a true love of learning, and a capacity to continue to learn through life, until they arrive at the knowledge of You, and your Son, Jesus, in the unity of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
